Printable death notice: a short guide
The generator above prepares the notice; this part answers what people ask next – how to print it properly, which wording fits, what must appear and where to post it.
Printing at home (A4)
- Choose "A4 · portrait" in the generator and tap Print / save as PDF.
- In the print dialog: A4 paper, margins "none" or "minimum", scale 100%, browser headers and footers off.
- Black on white – any laser or inkjet printer works. 100–120 gsm paper holds better on a notice board.
- For dozens of copies: print or save one PDF and photocopy it at a print shop – cheaper and faster than home ink.
At a print shop: A3, half sheet and full sheet
- Choose half sheet (35×50) or full sheet (50×70), save as PDF and send it to the print shop on WhatsApp or by e-mail. The file is saved at the exact size – no re-layout needed.
- A3 (29.7×42): save the A4 version and ask for an enlargement to A3 – same proportions.
- Ask for 130–170 gsm paper for street notices; 20–50 copies per neighbourhood is typical. Most shops print death notices the same day.
Four wordings
The generator composes the wording from the details you typed. If you need another one, copy from here into the "family names" field or the WhatsApp text and replace the bracketed words.

What must appear – and what should not
- Must: full name, time and place of the funeral, shiva address and hours.
- Usual: a parent\'s name, z"l / a"h / Hy"d, prayer times, family names, a request about flowers or notices.
- Not: private phone numbers and the apartment number on a street notice (on a WhatsApp notice to close circles – yes), the cause of death, and photos without the family\'s consent.
Where to post
The neighbourhood and building boards, the synagogue (with the gabbai\'s consent), the workplace, the children\'s school and the local shopping centre. In most municipalities the bylaw allows posting only on municipal boards – not poles, signs or fences; death notices usually get leniency, but when in doubt ask the 106 hotline. In parallel the digital notice reaches every group at once: share as a picture on WhatsApp, and a 9:16 status image with the address and navigation.
