During the shiva everyone tells stories – and then they are gone. Here every visitor writes a memory, a sentence or a story and attaches photos – and all of it reaches the family: a printable memory book, every photo in one file, and a reading mode for a large screen in the shiva house. Frequently asked questions
How does it work?
The family opens a collection in a minute and gets two links: one for participants (WhatsApp groups, the sign in the shiva house) and an admin link. Whoever gets the link writes a memory, picks "how I knew them", attaches photos and sends. The family sees everything in the admin link, approves, and produces a printable memory book, a file with all the photos, and a reading mode for a large screen during the shiva.
Who sees what people write?
Only the family. Participants do not see each other's memories unless the family chooses to open a "memory wall" – and then only approved memories are shown, to whoever has the link. Participants' phone and email are visible to the family only. Nothing appears on Google.
What about the photos?
Participants attach up to 6 photos per memory. Photos are resized and stored without location or device data, outside the site folder, and are reachable only through the family's links. The family downloads all of them in one ZIP file.
How long is it kept?
A year from opening, then 30 days of grace – after which everything is deleted from the server. Before that, download the book and the photos (there are calendar reminders). The family can extend by another year with one click, or delete everything at any moment.
How do you get people to actually write?
The tool is built for it: a short ask with a clear line ("one sentence is enough, 2 minutes"), ready-made wording for every circle (family, work, army, school, neighbours), a QR sign for the shiva house, ready openings for anyone who does not know where to start, and everyone who sends is asked to pass it on to three more people. A visible goal (say, 36 memories) moves people. And a reminder on day three – most memories arrive after the second ask.
Is it connected to the memorial page?
Approved memories can be moved with one click to the memorial page as messages (without photos), if the family opened one. The collection itself is free and does not depend on the memorial page.
