When is a thank-you notice published?
Usually at the end of the shiva or in the days after it, and sometimes towards the shloshim. There is no fixed date – what matters is reaching the people who were there.
Where is it published?
In the family, community and synagogue WhatsApp groups, on the synagogue notice board, in the local paper or on social media.
What do you write in a thank-you notice?
The family name, the name of the deceased, thanks to everyone who came to comfort and accompany you, and where relevant special thanks to medical staff, the Chevra Kadisha, neighbours or a particular organisation. The traditional wording ends with "May you know no more sorrow".
